Wow!!! Such great new stuff!! I love your mud kitchen, I can't wait to hear about the great creations made there. I think my favorite is you 3-D art wall, though the mud kitchen is in a close second. Great Job Miss Debbie and Mr Randy!! It looks like you're going to have a spectacular year :)

What a wonderful end of the year DVD!! The kids and I watched the whole thing. The kids loved pointing out the things they do here, and the things we haven't tried, but they think we should. Have a wonderful summer Miss Debbie and Mr Randy!!!

OK, I'm gonna cry now.... Kayla is my last baby, and this is her last days with you as her teacher. I've known you as a teacher and a friend. Like I said when Adam left your program, I am a better parent because of you; and my children are better kids because of you. Please don't ever forget that you change lives EVERY DAY! The Summers family loves and appreciates you more than you will ever know.

How in the world could anyone be diappointed in your program???? I wish more than anything that my daughter would have had one more year with you...or two. ;)

If they were diappointed, they should not be there. It's that simple. There are dozens of other children in this city that would love to be there- Playing (learning) and making memories with two of the most fantastic teachers I've ever known. Golly, if they only know what goes on in the other preschools in this city, they'd be kissing your feet. Don't let one person's ignorance get you down. I see first hand all the time effort and energy you put into your program. It's not 7:45-3:00 Monday through Friday. It's late night curriculum planning, all day Saturday workshops and trainings (that are always out of town), grocery shopping for the kids on Sunday afternoons, evening web conferences, reading specialized book in your free time to learn how to be a better teacher for boys, etc. If they only knew how much time you spent getting "just the right" decorations for the end-of-year celebration this Friday, they might not say hurtful things to you. I do not know who said this, nor do I care, but if they happen to read this, they should know that Siloam is in DESPERATE need of quality, dedicated, committed, and educated early childhood professionals to help get our children ready for kindergarten. Debbie's fellow early childhood friends in Siloam would be more than willing to welcome you to our group.

Debbie, as you look back upon your year, and I know how challenging it has been, look at the faces of those 16 children whom have been so blessed to attend Bright Beginnings. They love you and appreciate you. You helped to guide and mold them throughout the past 10 months. They are who matter, not the nay-sayers who look in from the outside and make assumptions about you and what you do. GOOD RIDDANCE!!! :)

We have made clean mud before, a lot of work. I have taken to grating most of the soap the night before and after each child had a turn with the soap, we added it to the paper (which for some reason we never have a hard time doing :) ) I love the sensory feeling of it, as it is a little different from our "real" mud outside which is pretty gritty for being clay!!

Oh P.S. I think you look great in your Mrs. Wishy Washy outfit!! What teachers do for their students!!!

I have read and reread this post several times since this morning. I could say all those things like these things happen, it could happen to any of us, don't beat yourself up...but you know all that already.

What I want you to know is that I love and respect you and Randy even more so now. You didn't hide it, you didn't make excuses. You just stated the facts and whys to how it happened, without getting all defensive. You held yourselves accountable.

And for us fellow childcare providers out here, you have set an awesome example. I hope one day to actually be able to live up to the standards that you have set for yourselves.

By the way, at the end of every workday Tracy (my hubby) asks if I'm "childless". Every day I say yes...and then I turn around to go check the sign-in sheet. Last week, I was with a parent at pickup time, and another dad walked in. I called for his child while he went to the sign in sheet. Where he noticed that mom had picked her up a half hour before. I felt a bit like an idiot for not remembering when he walked in. I agree...that is a very hectic time of day.

I commend you for posting what happened last week. I think most of us, if ever in your position, would want nothing more than to keep it a secret and "make it all go away". I have worked in other programs where this very incident has happened, and the child was left unattended for a lot longer than 30 seconds. As I recall, no one called to report themselves to DHS, no one called the parents, no one had to call the child abuse hotline. It was swept under the rug and chalked up to "we better be more careful next time". It is difficult to admit our mistakes, let alone publicly, and I think you are brave and humble to do so. Kudos to you!

Well Ms Debbie, I don't know what happen yesterday, but "things" happen to us all at one time or another... because we are human. I hope it all works itself out and know what a wonderful, funny, exciting, amazing, beautiful, happening, nurturing, fabulous, and awesome program you and Randi run!!!

Debbie, I'd love to read this book, as I too have my day schedule as mostly free play, but my kids amaze me at what they know, I'm a firm believer in learning through play! You do a great job with your group~it shows!
