Green Eggs and Ham

Normally I do ONE day on Dr. Suess. SHOOT me.. he isnt my favorite author for three and four year old children. Not only are the a LOT of words but a LOT of pages. I did a week this year and for the most part was able to keep the kiddos attention while reading.

Forgive the lack of a blog yesterday. I had an early morning doctors appointment, a training on delegation all afternoon, cooked dinner for 6 women at my home that were headed to the same meeting I was at 6:30 pm. I felt like I ran all day yesterday.

Jodie did have fun with the kids though . She read " One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish " and did a little craft with them using blue paper plates. They also read " Oh The Thinks you can Think." Then together they thought... and wrote this little story below together as a group.

Today we used blue hair spray to make us all look like Thing One and Thing Two.

I was worried about it coming out but a lot of it has already lightened to the point of not being able to see it.

Today we read "Green Eggs and Ham" in small group. Together we made a list of other foods that are green.

One of my favorite times is seeing children that don't normally play together a lot enjoying doing something together.

And then it was time to cook some green eggs and ham.

Whoops.... unscheduled fire alarm while cooking.. :)

After nap time we will read Dr Suess' ABC book and eat these cool ABC cookies I picked up at the Dollar Tree.

Happy Birthday Dr. Suess

Emeri's mom came to read " Fox in Sox" The kids enjoyed it but it was quite a tongue twister for her.

Today was Wacky Wednesday and the kids wore wacky socks!

Emeri should be a big sister within the week !

After the kids woke up we had a birthday cake for Dr. Suess. Can you tell they are still tired ?

I used an AB pattern when baking it - red white red white red white

And the washed it down with pink ink.

Top Hat Tuesday

We had a fun time today balancing things on our head like Cat in the Hat.

Group pictures with the kids on Terrific Top Hat Tuesday ! I am NOT a hat girl...

The kids ended up trading hats and using some of mine that I had upstairs.

Today we read a PDEastman book from the Cat in the Hat series. The book we read is called " Are you my Mother?" After reading the book we played a matching game with animals and their babies. I really thought that would be too easy for them but a few of them struggled with getting the right animals together.

Playing puppy dogs is still one of the kids favorite games. This is Kayla and McKayla playing puppy. Kayla said her puppy was sick.

Malia practicing being a big sister. Soon Malia , very soon. ( But Emeri's little sister should be here THIS WEEK! )

We read this book. It tells the story of the cat coming back to Sally's house and the mess that followed him - as it always does.

* March calendars are going home in cubbies today.
Tomorrow is silly " sox" day and we will be celebrating Dr. Suess birthday.

This afternoon we are having a cool snack but I forgot to take a picture of it with the camera. It is Dr. Suess Hats. You take a vanilla wafer and put a ring of red icing on it. Place a marshmallow on top then another ring of red and the other half of marshmallow. Can we learn patterns at snack? Yes, we can.

Mixed Up Monday

This week we are celebrating Dr. Suess birthday with " special stuff !"
Today was mixed up Monday ! We really had some mixed up wardrobes and hair-do's.

In celebration of
" The Foot Book" the girls got their toes pained. They loved it. We even made them a little mixed up. The boys walked by and I would say... do you want me to paint your nails? They would run and yell NO!!! :)

We sorted our shoes by strings or no strings. We sorted them as boots or not boots. We made patterns with the colors. Pink white pink white pink white. Black brown Black Brown...

Then we mixed them all up and had a race to get them on !

This is our new friend McKayla ! She has fit in very well today !

Muffin tin Monday!

It was a fun day. This morning before 7:45 I had made a trip to Fayetteville and back to help Addam with a car in the shop. I will miss you this afternoon. I have to pick him up at 1:45 and then have a meeting over there. Devin, Audrey's mom , will be helping Mr Randy from nap time on today.

Tomorrow is Top Hat Tuesday. Let your child wear a hat to school.
