Today we did a science experiment ! We took very hot water and put it in a glass. Then we put ice cubes on a metal tray to cover the opening. Our goal was to make " rain" inside the glass. It did SOMEWHAT... not as good as I had hoped but enough that the kids got to see the droplets form.
We also read the book " It Looked Like Spilt Milk." This is a book explores the many different shapes of clouds. Do you remember as a child lying on the ground and staring at the clouds to see what you could " find" in them? Take some times this weekend and do that with your child. We did an activity after reading the book. We took white paint and put it in the middle of two sheets of paper and folded it in half and SQUEEZED it . After opening it up we talked about what the " cloud " shape looks like .
We also used mini mashmellows to create !
I worked until 9:30 weeding my garden last night . The children enjoyed it today.

I believe children's areas should not only be functional and cohesive with learning but also beautiful. Randy and I have been busy adding whimsy all over !
Oh, I just love all the little touches to the yard. I'm working on plans for redoing our backyard, and I'm going to keep your philosophy in mind.
ReplyDeleteSo will Randy share his water pump instructions? Just this morning, while we were out in our snowboots and snowpants, I was dreaming of nice weather play, and thinking that I needed to figure out a better kid-friendly water source. And I think that Randy's set-up might be just what I was looking for!
Ok, made the picture bigger so I can now see how it was done. Just need to find a pump...where did you get yours???
ReplyDeleteYes, I need Randy's plans for that water pump!! We have been trying to make some water area's throughout the yard... would love to have a few of those neat water jugs for the kids to use :)
ReplyDeleteI asked Randy about the water pump and he said Adam ( our son ) gave it to him. I will have to ask Addam but I am pretty sure he will say... I dont remember ! :)
ReplyDeletesuch a transformation on your house and yard in the past couple years. it really looks amazing! we love you!
ReplyDeleteDebbie,
ReplyDeleteWE FOUND IT!!! It was at Harbor Freight Tools, for $3.99 plus shipping. We are excited!! Just wanted to pass it on so those interested can get one if they want :)
Haha!! I just came on to post the same thing as Michelle! If you Google "water bottle pump" you can find them everywhere! I'm going to check locally and see if they sell them where they sell the bottles. But Harbor Freight has the cheapest that I have found.
ReplyDeleteYou girls are funny ! FYI, for quality one year I thought I would use this get up to wash hands as the kids went inside to save time. It is RUNNING.. but not warm. Didn't float. :)
ReplyDeleteAHH... well noted. I will remember that, I was going to try to use a portable outdoor garden sink, but it only has cold water so my consultant said.. NO Go :)
