Respect your boogers !

Today we read another story by Julia Cook. This book was called " I am a Booger Treat me with Respect " I first heard about this book on a girls day out around Christmas. A dear, and funny friend brought it along for entertainment. I know you are thinking " you must have some pretty lame girls day's out." But really , it was great fun . We have never laughed so hard. Four grown women riding down the road laughing like crazy . I was the "reader." I knew two pages into the book that I HAD to order this authors books. Again today , like yesterday, I have recorded me reading the book so you can appreciate it the way I do. Enjoy !

Orrin LOVED this book !

At the end of course we had to practice making booger ghost !

On to other things !

Remember the experiment we started with the white carnations ? They DRANK the colored water and look what happened ! BEAUTIFUL colorful flowers ! ( I can't tell you how many time these have been knocked over. Even once by ME! But.. what fun is an experiment like this if you can't see it up close ? )

Rosannna and Andrea pretending. Pretend play is such an important part of our day. It is where we learn to deal with things going on in our lives. It is where we act out things that are important to us. It is where we can be anything we want to be.

Noah and Dillion made up a game with our " sound boxes ."

The purple sand is always a popular area.

I love walking around the room and seeing evidence of happy kids.

William made this . He said " look at my red and blue spider. Don't touch the red." I of course was curious and asked " Why not?" His reply was " Red is hot! " Now.... that is thinking. ( Not to mention the pattern that he made on his spider. )

Days like today remind me why I do what I do. LOVE my job.

Happy Birthday to Jesus !

Today the kids had a blast with Jodie. We were all around until noon. So I got to see some of the fun. The kids made a birthday cake for Jesus in the kitchen and even decorated it . They walked to the flower shop and bought Randy and I a Christmas surprise. ( VERY sweet Jodie- thanks! ) They also played some learning games with Mary , Joseph and Jesus. They used cut outs of them to pattern and also made Happy Birthday Jesus cards.

The conversation I heard from the playroom was SO funny. Sometimes it is entertaining to listen to other adults try to explain or get out of sticky conversations. For instance :

Child - Ms Jodie how will these cards get to Jesus?
Ms J - Well, I guess you will take them to your mom or dad and they will mail them.
Child - To where, where is Jesus now ?
Ms. J - He is in the sky , in Heaven.
Child- In Heaven ?
Ms J - Yep !
Child- Can't we just give them to the post man ?
Ms J - Umm... Well, I guess we COULD..... uh...
Child - The postman delivers mail , he could take them to Heaven for us.

Mrs. Jodie also told me about this one :

William; Knock Knock
Malia -Who's there?
William - Banana
Malia- Come in Banana!
William You are SUPPOSED TO say... Banana WHO?
Malia - Come in Banana Who
William - ( grabs head and makes a very frustrated sound... )

Kids... I never get tired of listening to them learn to navigate life and their relationships.

I have had a wonderful little mini vacation with both of my kids here for Christmas. Thanks Ms Jodie for working and thanks parents for understanding I needed to be with my family. Merry Christmas to you all and I will see you Monday January 3rd.

Kids are funny

" I'm not allergic to girls anymore!" That was my favorite quote of the day! If he only knew how those little girls will make him do stupid stuff years from now.

Another funny moment today was before nap time Randy said to Audrey from the other side of the room " Lay down princess." Without even looking to see where he was and who he was talking to she replied " I am." I guess some of us just know our place in life. :)

Below is a book I got in the mail that I plan to start reading. I am a member of The National Associations for the Education of Young Children and periodically I get books in the mail . I was excited to get this one. It's says " The Seven Essential Life Skills That Every Child Needs." I cant wait to get started on it.

Beth and I have been working in the resource room again and we came across the train tracks. It doesnt have a lot to do with our unit right now, but there is no golden rule that everything MUST correlate . I was trying to decide whether I wanted to put it in the yard sale this weekend. I think you can see from the pictures, the answer would be a firm - NO- Keep it.

I also introduced the double sided table easel today. Watercolors !!!

Randy doing " magic" with his hillbilly wallet. :)

Geneviette lost her first tooth. She will be 5 in November. She was SO excited this morning to show everyone.

Quilts.... we made one of our art work that we plan to take to Quail Ridge tonight ( 6 pm )

This is a group picture after our practice session for tonight . Meet there on State Line Road at 5:50. We will go in at 6:00. We will be there MAYBE 15 minutes. After that you are invited to join Randy and I for ice cream cones at Mc Donalds- our treat.
